The skinny: Junior Jeffrey Yamaguchi finished with another 72 on Tuesday to finish at 2-under 215 and in a tie for ninth at the 45th annual Western Washington University Invitational.
After a 12-over 300, the Vulcans ended up in 10th place out of 17 teams at 22-over. British Columbia won at 6-under.
Also playing for UH-Hilo were: Taylor Patrick (76 on Tuesday, 5-over 221), Braeden Campbell (73, 6-over), Trevor Kua (80, 14-over) and Jared Kinoshita (79, 21-over).

BASEBALL
The skinny: Collegiate Baseball Newspaper ranked the 2016 recruiting class as the 37th-best class in the nation and third-best in the Big West.
The 20-member class includes Kamehameha-Hawaii graduate Daylen Calicdan.
Quotable: “To see our recruiting class recognized in Collegiate Baseball’s Top 40 is a nice way to start the fall. We thought it was our best class in several years — a physical and athletic group,” 16th-year head coach Mike Trapasso said.
